Binance CEO Tigran Gambaryan, who has been detained in Nigeria since February, entered an Abuja courtroom on Monday with difficulty walking. Correctional officers denied his request for access to a wheelchair. In a video posted, Gambarian asked the prison guard for help, saying his condition was unsuitable. His lawyers requested bail on medical grounds, saying he suffered from malaria, pneumonia and disc problems in his back. The prosecutor rejected the request. Gambarian’s wife called on the U.S. government to take steps to free him. Gambarian, who previously worked as an agent for the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, has been in prison since March on money laundering charges. He has denied all allegations.
