The Mpeppe project, which aims to offer a hybrid betting, memecoin and DeFi service, has been accused of running a fake presale program. Several investors claim to have paid to buy tokens for a project inspired by famous soccer star Kylian Mbappé, but have not received any tokens. The project says it will use the funds to create an NFT pool and a DeFi protocol tied to the token. Blockchain data shows that the entire token supply of this project is held in the issuing account and no tokens have been issued to investors. One investor claims to have sent $1,996 to the project’s escrow address but has not received any tokens in return. The Mpeppe team did not respond to Cointelegraph’s request for comment, and its official Telegram channel has become unavailable after attempts to communicate. The Mpeppe Project's pre-sale methods are unusual and may indicate a scam.
