User Lost $55 Million in Digital Currency to Phishing Attack

Blockchain security platform Scam Sniffer reported that a cryptocurrency investor lost $55.47 million worth of Dai stablecoin (DAI) in a phishing attack. According to the company, the individual accidentally made a SetOwner transaction and transferred their funds to a phishing address. The attacker then transferred the assets to another address and stole a total of $55.47 million worth of DAI from the victim’s account. The founder of security firm SlowMist mentioned that the attacker used the notorious Inferno Drainer malware for the attack. This incident has once again highlighted the ongoing threat of phishing attacks in the cryptocurrency industry.
