U.S. Attorney’s Office Denies Ryan Salameh’s Request to Withdraw Guilty Plea

The U.S. Attorney’s Office has denied former FTX CEO Ryan Salame’s request to withdraw his guilty plea to campaign finance violations. In a case filed Aug. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, prosecutors said they would oppose the Salameh legal team’s request by Sept. 4. Salameh’s attorneys filed a miscarriage of justice motion to allow the court to vacate the settlement that resulted in a 7.5-year prison sentence. Salameh said prosecutors indicated during plea negotiations that they would not investigate his partner, Michelle Bond. On Aug. 22, authorities withdrew an indictment against Bond for campaign finance violations related to his 2022 campaign for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Prosecutors have rejected Salameh's claim as patently false.
