Tun Community Demands Immediate Release of Pavel Durov

The Telegram Open Network Community (TON) published an open letter to French authorities calling for the immediate release of Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, following his arrest at Le Bourget Airport on August 24. The letter described Durov’s arrest as a direct attack on fundamental human rights and a violation of the principles of freedom of expression. The Tun community called on the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and the European Union to pressure France to release Durov. The community stressed that Telegram’s content monitoring policies are in line with the European Union’s legal framework. Despite growing calls for Durov’s release, French authorities extended his detention until August 28. After widespread reactions, the French President stated that Durov’s arrest was not political.
