Sony Block Solutions Labs, a joint venture between Sony Group and Singapore-based Startale Labs, has announced the development of a new layer 2 blockchain called Sonium. The blockchain aims to attract application developers from various fields, including entertainment, gaming, and finance. According to the joint statement, the Sonium testnet will be launched in collaboration with Astar Network. Web3 companies such as Optimism, Circle, Alchemy, The Graph, and Chainlink have joined forces as technology partners to launch the Sonium testnet. Sonium will provide integrated tools to help developers build globally compatible applications. Sony Group plans to create new services related to its business through Sonium.
