Contrary to rumors circulating on social media about the imminent release of former Binance founder and CEO Chang Peng Zhao (CZ), recent reports suggest that he has been transferred to an office in Los Angeles. The transfer came 38 days before the end of his four-month sentence. According to the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons, Zhao is now under the supervision of the local Community Reentry Management (RRM) office. Zhao’s sentencing comes after he pleaded guilty last November to violating the Bank Secrecy Act. He also resigned as CEO of Binance and was banned from holding executive positions at cryptocurrency companies. Despite online speculation, there is no evidence that Zhao was released early, and the Bureau of Prisons website still lists his release date as September 29.
