Steve Hanke, a well-known American economist and professor of applied economics at Johns Hopkins University, has once again made headlines by criticizing digital currency holders. Citing a new study from the University of Toronto, Henke called digital currency investors psychopaths. The research shows that digital currency investors have lower levels of analytical and scientific thinking and are more likely to exhibit psychopathic traits than the general population. The study also found that digital currency holders are more likely to exhibit traits associated with the four dark sides of personality, namely “narcissism, psychopathy, sadism, and Machiavellianism.” Reactions from the cryptocurrency community to the comments have been mixed. Some have called the study inaccurate, others have attacked the economists.
