Digital exchange Binance has called on the US government and international organizations to exert political pressure to secure the release of Tigran Gambaryan, one of the company’s top executives who has been imprisoned in Nigeria for the past six months. Binance CEO Richard Teng said Gambarian’s physical and mental condition is rapidly deteriorating and that the Nigerian government is denying him proper medical care and access to a lawyer. Binance has denied allegations that the company is playing a role in Nigeria’s economic woes and called for Gambarian’s status as a US citizen illegally detained abroad to be determined. The company also called on citizens and international organizations to advocate for Gambarian’s freedom. Binance said that after resolving the issue, it is ready to work with the Nigerian government to develop the Web3 industry and attract foreign investment.
