Artificial Intelligence Is the Biggest Threat to Bitcoin Anonymity

Edward Snowden, a well-known whistleblower and very active figure in the security field, spoke at the Bitcoin 2024 conference about the potential threats to anonymity and the invasion of privacy of Bitcoin users by artificial intelligence.

In his online speech, Snowden warned that artificial intelligence could soon easily endanger the privacy of cryptocurrency users around the world by analyzing blockchain transactions.

Snod claims that Bitcoin transactions are not so anonymous because, on the one hand, many transactions are linked to centralized exchanges that contain all of a person's identity information. However, with artificial intelligence opening up to the field of financial surveillance, people's privacy is also being violated.

Intercepting and monitoring users' transactions and connections between them can provide valuable insights into their private lives that cannot simply be ignored.

Beyond cryptocurrencies, Snowden argues that it is possible for governments and corporations to harness the limitless power of artificial intelligence to create highly detailed user profiles. He predicts that in the next five to ten years, big data combined with blockchain could bring every personal aspect of people’s lives under the control of regulators and even spur the development of predictive behavioral models.

At the end of his speech, Snowden called for immediate action to secure Bitcoin transactions and protect user privacy, warning that ignoring these issues would have very serious consequences.
